Being a parent is a full-time job in itself, but trying to work or continue education alongside can be very tricky. But don’t despair – there is support out there to help you out!

If you want general support as a parent you can check out the Wokingham Borough Council website for Child Protection and Family Support and the Family Information service for information on a variety of support services.

    The GOV UK website is a great place to start looking for help.

    • Find out about the financial support they offer for those with children, here.
    • Find out about maternity and paternity leave, shared parental leave, and careers breaks, here.
    • Find out about the Care to Learn Scheme which can help with childcare costs whilst you study, here.
    • Find out about Parents' Learning Allowance for those wanting to go to Univesity or in to teacher training, here.
  • Family Lives

    Family Lives offer lots of useful advice on their website as well as a helpline where you can get free and confidential advice on anything relating to family life.

  • Gingerbread

    Gingerbread are a national charity who provide advice and support for single parent families.

    Their website is filled with all sorts of useful advice for single parents, from supporting your child to calculating your benefits.

  • SingleParents.org

    Much like Gingerbread, SingleParents.org provides advice and support to single parents - from parenting help, to advice on eating well on a budget.

    They also share recent news all to do with single parents.
